Here, ahead of the film’s May 20 premiere, Vogue pays tribute to Summer’s iconic career in 20 vintage snapshots. Bad Bunny certainly knows how to make an entrance on the red carpet. The rapper arrived at tonight’s Met Gala—which celebrates the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld A Line of Beauty”—wearing a playful and whimsical look. The star wore an eight meter (26 foot) flower train paired with a pristine white suit, which featured a backless blazer, all crafted by designer Simon Porte Jacquemus. Seeing that botanical themes featured frequently in Lagerfeld’s work, the maximalist ode to flowers feels more than fitting for the night. Simone Porte Jacquemus has overseen one of the buzziest brands in fashion for a number of years now, but he is attending the Met Gala for the first time this year. For the meaningful moment, the celebrated designer decided to invite rapper Bad Bunny as his guest. Jacquemus did not have to think too long and hard when it came to picking his guest. Bad Bunny, who previously starred in a series of playfully provocative ads for the designer, was an easy choice for Jacquemus. “Bad Bunny is my favorite artist, it’s a dream to dress him for my first Met Gala,” Jacqumeus says. “I was so inspired by him, he is the ultimate Jacquemus muse.”

Attending the Met celebrating Lagerfeld is a full circle moment for Jacquemus. “My first memory of Karl was Nicole Kidman’s backless dress in the Chanel No.5 TV commercial in 2004,” the French designer told Vogue. (In a moment of kismet, Nicole Kidman attended tonight’s Met Gala re wearing the same frothy pink gown she wore in that ad.) “I was obsessed with it and asked my best friend to record it for me, to watch it in my bedroom over and over. I was just a kid and this dress and long train stayed in my mind forever.”
