Usher is no stranger to taking over fashion week, but he says it’s an event he always looks forward to every year. “You get to reconnect with people that you haven’t seen in a long time,” says Usher. “And you’re able to be inspired. [Fashion week] is an epicenter of creativity; You see a designer’s passions and emotions. I love that part.” The singer kicked off his eventful week by attending the Wales Bonner show, which he described as extremely sophisticated. “I loved the idea of this African heritage expressed in the wardrobe,” says Usher. Then it was onto Bianca Saunders, another favorite of his. “I loved what she did, her show felt a bit more immersive,” says Usher. “It was a story being told using music and culture to come together. The [space] almost looked like a Jamaican bar.” The star adds that it was special to see “two incredible, Black, confident women who are dressing men” in Paris. “I think that’s very strong a woman’s perspective adds class and sophistication,” he says.
Yesterday’s Chanel spring 2023 couture show in Paris was, unsurprisingly, a star studded affair. A listers such as Tilda Swinton, Marion Cotillard, and Vanessa Paradis were all in attendance. However, there was a new face among the celebrity filled crowd. Apple Martin, the 18 year old daughter of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, took in her first fashion show from the front row. “The Chanel Couture show was my first fashion experience, and I am so incredibly grateful to Chanel and their incredible team for having me,” says Martin. “It was so exciting to see the art in the designs, and the theme of the line emerge throughout the show.”
